Ryan Daniel,
Visionary

I create compelling images – moving and still. I travel from mind to mind as I shoot to create moments and emotions. I have spent years challenging my own perspectives on the world which enables me to dissolve my identity and create the eye in which the camera and lens shape the story. I practice mindfulness while I shoot to enhance the experience for all involved.  I step out of myself and into a scene to see from all angles and perspectives.  I enjoy working in studio and on-location environments, shaping light for the camera. I learn quickly, act with precision, and aim for perfection.

I am based in New York City, and I love traveling for work.  I was born in Florida and moved to Colorado at the age of 13. After High School, I studied Film Production and Psychology at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Shortly after school I moved to NYC and found myself working as a photographer, camera operator, assistant camera, and the list goes on.  Moving at a young age altered my perspective and challenged my sense of identity.  For a while, I did not feel as like I belonged, but as time went on, I came into myself and found new ways to look at the world, specifically through photography.  From there, I began to see the impact that cinema had on my life and my personal lens.  I became conscious of the material that I consumed, and became obsessed with cinema.  My favorite films include: In The Mood For Love by Wong Kar Wai, Eyes Wide Shut by Stanley Kubrick, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind by Michael Gondry, Taxi Driver by Martin Scorsese, Do The Right Thing by Spike Lee, The Master by Paul Thomas Anderson, and North by Northwest by Alfred Hitchcock. My favorite photographers are currently Petra Collins, Irving Penn, Patrick Demarchelier, Ellen Von Unwerth, and Vivian Maier.  I find inspiration everywhere I go.  I find myself in every piece of art that compels me to a certain emotional state. I find comfort in my fluid and dynamic sense of self and encourage others to find comfort in themselves.

When you work with me as a photographer, I will bring my own personality into the scene until the subjects personality begins to shine through.

When you work with me as a cinematographer, I will study the story until I am living it out in my own head to best articulate the style through light, shape, and color.

My lens is ever-evolving and shifting.  I will work with you to shape the best collective lens for the story being told.
